Frequently Asked Questions

What to Know Before Your Appointment

1. What identification do I need?

Please have a current, government-issued photo ID available. If you're unsure whether your ID is acceptable, contact us before your appointment.

2. Should I sign my documents before the appointment?

If you haven't signed yet, it's best to wait until your appointment. Already signed? Don't worry - some documents can still be notarized. Contact us if you're unsure.

3. What if my ID is expired?

An expired ID usually is not acceptable. Contact us before your appointment and we'll let you know what identification options may be available if you find that your ID has expired.

4. Does everyone named on the document need to be present?

Not necessarily. Only the individuals whose signatures are being notarized at that appointment need to appear before the notary.

5. What if my document requires witnesses?

Let us know when booking. Witnesses may be available with advance notice for an additional fee.

6. Can you notarize a document written in another language?

It depends. Foreign-language documents may be notarized in some circumstances. Please contact us before booking so we can confirm whether we're able to assist with your document.

7. What happens if the notarization cannot be completed?

A notarization can only be completed when all legal requirements are met. Travel, appointment, witnesses, or other applicable fees may still apply if the notarization cannot be completed.

8. How should I prepare for my appointment?

Have your document and identification ready, and make sure anyone whose signature needs to be notarized is available. If witnesses are required, arrangements should be made in advance.

9. How much does a mobile notary appointment cost?

Pricing depends on travel, the number and type of notarizations, appointment requirements, and scheduling. Your price will be provided before your appointment is confirmed.

10. Can I cancel or reschedule my appointment?

Yes. Cancellation or rescheduling fees may apply depending on how much notice is provided. Any nonrefundable costs already incurred may also apply.

11. Can a notary help me complete or understand my document?

No. A notary cannot provide legal advice, choose forms for you, or advise you on how to complete your document. Please have your document prepared before your appointment.

12. Can you notarize for someone who is elderly, ill, or hospitalized?

Yes, provided the signer is able to communicate with the notary, understands what they are signing, and is signing willingly. The notary must make this determination at the appointment.

13. Can someone else book the appointment for the signer?

Yes. A family member, attorney, facility, or other person may arrange the appointment, but the person whose signature is being notarized must personally meet the notary.

14. What forms of payment do you accept?

Appointments can be paid securely by card through Stripe, or CashApp, Venmo, or Zelle. Payment is due at least 48 hours before your appointment. For urgent or last-minute bookings, payment arrangements will be confirmed when booking.

15. What if the signer is physically unable to sign their name?

That's okay. Massachusetts law allows a signer to use a mark, such as an "X," with two witnesses present. If you're unable to sign or make a mark, the notary may also sign your name at your direction when specific legal requirements are met. Please let us know when booking so the appropriate arrangements can be made.
